Whitby

Discover what's on their table.

Whitby is a community in transformation. Connected, vibrant, and innovative – a place to play, work and call home.

The Town of Whitby combines a small town welcoming atmosphere with the amenities of a larger urban centre. Whitby boasts two beautiful heritage downtowns, one of the finest recreational harbours with an award-winning marina, year-round sports and recreation activities, parks, trails, and a robust arts, culture and food scene. And whether you’ve just sailed into town or have lived here for years, we hope you’ll discover something new to enjoy.

Our local craft brewery scene is making waves. From 5 Paddles to Town Brewery to Brock Street (Brewery, that is) to Banter & Co. in Brooklin, there are sensational local suds constantly popping up on tap at local pubs. But if you’re going to enjoy a local brew, Whitby’s food scene makes a great pairing. With lots of new restaurants and old favourites, you might want to consider marking down a few more date nights in your calendar.

Whitby boasts some incredible restaurants to satisfy anyone’s appetite. Indulge at mouthwatering restaurants like The Springwood* which focuses on locally sourced ingredients, hyper-seasonality and sustainability, as well as Bella Note,  Harvest, or The Lake Grill. Dive into the unique menu at KB (might we suggest brunch?!) or explore the many lively pubs, quaint cafés, great coffee shops (try Jacked-Up Coffee, Marito’s, or Brock St. Espresso!), mouth-watering bakeries (don’t miss Crave Doughnuts or The Station European Bakery), or the Whitby Farmers’ Market to experience delicious fare.

Bistro 67*, located within Durham College’s award-winning W. Galen Weston Centre for Food (WC) is a world-class teaching restaurant where meals are prepared and served by students and staff. Whitby is also proud to have One More Cocoa, a premium, gourmet chocolatier in Whitby who was featured on Oprah’s Favourite Things Holiday Gift List for 2023.

Whitby’s culinary scene boasts local, field-to-fork cuisine, pub fare, comfort food, and a multitude of diverse, ethnic cuisines. Whitby’s culinary scene is a destination not to be missed and firmly placed on the food map of Ontario. No matter what your tastes are, you’ll be sure to find something you enjoy!
